Monitoring Peatlands Together
We're proud to share that our DHI Demonstration Project funded by Netherlands Enterprise Agency was successfully completed on 31 December 2025.

Through this project, Plant-e worked closely with public authorities and conservation organizations to demonstrate how SensorSticks can support long-term, in-situ peatland monitoring in real restoration contexts.

As part of the demonstration, SensorSticks were deployed with partners at multiple peatland sites, including:

– Cairngorms National Park Authority (Scotland), supporting large-scale blanket bog restoration
– Natural England (England) at Bolton Fell Moss and Wedholme Flow, two of England's flagship peatland restoration sites
– National Parks and Wildlife Service (Ireland) at Liffey Head Bog, a Special Area of Conservation and the source of the River Liffey

Across these sites, SensorSticks delivered continuous, real-time water-table data via satellite, directly from peat soils, enabling partners to:

– Gain deeper insight into peatland hydrology
– Track restoration progress over time, not just at single moments
– Reduce fieldwork in remote and sensitive landscapes
– Access reliable, long-term datasets without the need for field visits

This project highlights the value of partnership-driven innovation, combining on-the-ground expertise with nature-powered sensing technology to support peatland restoration, climate resilience, and water security.

A big thank you to all partners involved for the trust, collaboration, and shared ambition throughout the project. We're excited to continue building together toward healthier peatlands.
