Since 2010 a large-scale demonstration project of a green electricity roof has been running on the rooftop of the Dutch Institute of Ecology (NIOO). Commercial products based on this proof-of-concept are under development.
Plant-e is developing a system for large-scale electricity production in existing green areas like wetlands and rice paddy fields. A prototype is under development. First field-pilots will be started in 2014.
