Welcome to Plant-e
Do you want to use your green roof to power your house? Would you like to see each wetland and rice paddy field in the world turned into a power plant without harvesting the plants? Plant-e is a company that develops and produces products in which living plants generate electricity.
The company was founded on September 14, 2009 as a spin-off from the sub-department of Environmental Technology of Wageningen University by Marjolein Helder and David Strik. Since her PhD-graduation in November 2012 Marjolein is working full-time as CEO of Plant-e. David works as an assistant professor at Wageningen University and still is an important link between scientific research and the research and development at Plant-e.
Plant-e was featured on the Dutch regional television station of Gelderland in the program "Trots op Gelderland" at february 7.

Plant-e technology can be combined with agriculture, as opposed to what Prof. Dam of Delft University said today in Volkskrant. Prof. Dam agrees that he jumped to conclusions too fast after reading the information on our website. Read more: Artikel [Dutch].
The first two Plant-e systems will be launched today, the 5th of november. The two systems are installed at the HEMbrug grounds in Zaandam and at a crossover of the A12 highway (the rainbow route) on the food innovation strip Ede-Wageningen. Both systems will power an artwork of light and will be switched on simultaneously.
In a letter of secretary of State Dekker (Education, Culture and Science) and Minister Kamp (Economic Affairs) concerning the Dutch participation in the Seventh Framework Programme for Research (FP7), Plant-e is mentioned.

Due to the investments of the RVB and the municipalities of Ede and Wagengingen we have started production of our modulair systems. These modular systems are the first products Plant-e launches on the market. These systems will be installed at the HEMbrug grounds in Zaandam and at a location later to be determined in Ede/Wageningen.
Places for this production run are still available. For more information, you can send an email.
Marjolein was a guest at the Business Breakfast Show on Dubai Eye to talk about Plant-e. Listen to the item here.
