Marjolein Helder, PhD, MSc. - CEO
Marjolein Helder (1983) graduated as a PhD on electricity generation from living plants at the sub-department of Environmental Technology of Wageningen University in November 2012. Since then, she’s been working full-time as Plant-e’s CEO. With a PhD in environmental technology and a minor in entrepreneurship and management, she is well equipped to run a technology-based company. Her active engagement in several boards (a.o. alumni association KLV, Rugby Club Wageningen) combined with her positive attitude and energy has led to a vast network in the Netherlands and abroad.

David Strik, PhD, MSc. - CTO
David Strik (1975) is assistant professor at the sub-department of Environmental Technology of Wageningen University. He got his PhD cum-laude at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences in Vienna, Austria in 2004 as an environmental-biotechnologist. Before that he studied Environmental Technology at Wageningen University and HAS Den Bosch, the Netherlands. In his work as researcher David performed the first experiments with electricity generation from plants. He is co-inventor of the technology and obtained and patented the proof-of-technology in 2007. Currently David spends 4 days a week at Wageningen University and 1 day a week on Plant-e’s R&D.

Nanda Schrama, MSc. – CMO
Nanda Schrama (1986) did a BSc and MSc study in Management Marketing and Economics at Wageningen University. She graduated in August 2012 with a specialization in Marketing and Consumer behavior. Two thesis’s with a focus on sustainable marketing and consumer behavior and a minor thesis at Plant-e in 2011 led to interest in marketing of sustainable products, and Plant-e products in particular. In September 2012 Nanda started her job at Plant-e, where she is focused on marketing and back office activities, and supports Marjolein in the daily activities and meetings.
Gaofeng Ni, MSc student – Intern environmental technology
Gaofeng Ni (1989) is an MSc student at Environmental Technology, Wageningen University after graduating from B.E. Environmental Engineering in China in 2011. Gaofeng is interested in bio-electrochemical approaches towards environmental and energy problem and completed his thesis “Performance study of a stacked plate-plate PMFC”. The interest in PMFC encouraged him to conduct his internship at Plant-e and he hopes to be involved as well as witness the development of this renewable technology based company. Starting from March 2013, his internship is focused on the comparison between the “Green Electricity Roof” with conventional green roof systems as well as solar panels regarding electricity production.
